S5LECT at TRA 2026 📸

The S5LECT project was presented by Pierre Le Corre, Marion Berbineau and Christophe Vitry through a poster at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) conference, held in Budapest from May 18 to 21, 2026.

For reminder, the S5LECT project explores the integration of terrestrial 5G and satellite networks to ensure reliable and continuous communications for critical railway applications, addressing key challenges such as cybersecurity, Edge Computing, and experimental validation in a laboratory environment.
A warm thanks to the whole consortium (SNCF Réseau, Institut de Recherche Technologique RAILENIUM, Hitachi Rail, RadioLabs, and CEIT Centro Tecnológico) for their involvement and valuable contributions to this work.

The poster highlights recent project advancements, including:
🔹seamless handover between terrestrial and satellite networks,
🔹development of a hybrid communication architecture,
🔹improvements in resilience and security of communications,
🔹implementation of a laboratory testing platform to validate performance and use cases.

The project is funded by the European Union through the EUSPA – EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), supporting innovation in next-generation railway communication systems.
