Excited to share highlights from IEEE VTC2026-Spring, held in Nice on 09-12 june, 2026 !
At the Railway Workshop, Wael Cherif (Hitachi Rail) presented the joint work carried out by Hitachi Rail, CEIT and SNCF Réseau within the S5LECT project on data acquisition for railway applications using 5G and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
The presentation showcased :
- A real-field data acquisition campaign on a regional railway line combining 5G and SATCOM communications
- A methodology to collect and replay IP and radio metrics under real mobility conditions
- A hybrid architecture enabling seamless handover and continuity of communication services
